Is technology becoming the core of beauty? Pls elaborate
Medical technology is advancing very fast as we see new treatments and updation of lasers every year. Aesthetic industry is huge with billions spending money on facial enhancements so it is a welcome change that treatments today are getting safer and quicker eliminating discomfort, downtime and anaesthesia. Just like computers and apps that keep getting better and better with every new version, so also the lasers, procedures and machines. What was not possible 20 years ago is possible today. You can change the shape of your face, correct that dip n the nose, enhance the shape of your lips, cheeks, chin, improve texture, tone and complexion with a simple lunch time procedure . the actresses of yester year had to hide their necks and hands which gave away signs of ageing for which we didn’t have options but today we can reverse ageing signs on the décolletage, hands and neck with simple non surgical solutions.
Facial enhancing apps and software programmes allow us to show the client what their skin would look like with an altered nose, enhanced lips or with a flawless complexion. Beauty today is truly digital. It’s the age of instagram, selfies and people want to look their best without having to use filters and makeup apps

surgical Vs Non-surgical
Today the world is fast moving towards non-surgical solutions because no one wants the downtime in our busy schedules. They want safe, effective solutions even if temporary, that can wear off or can be erased in the rare chance that they do not like the result. Non-surgical solutions are often touted as ‘Lunch time procedures’ because they can often be completed in 10-50 mins , requiring no anesthesia or only a local numbing cream. The lack of downtime is attractive as well as lower price points compared to the surgical solutions.
Surgical solutions come with a lot of understanding of risks, complications, anaesthesia, downtime and more permanent results. This can be a problem if you are unhappy with the result.
pls give a brief summary on the below treatments ( what is it, how is it done, pros and cons).
Microblading
Microblading is an art of tattooing the eyebrows by giving feather like strokes with a blade which is then rubbed with tattoo ink so that the colour is etched in. the results last upto a year and may need a few touch ups to get it right. The kim kardashian and Arabic brows are all the rage today and somehow thick fuller eyebrows makes one look younger
Pros: Its thicker, natural results than eyebrow tattooing
Cons: fades quicker than eye brow tattooing..
Fat-freezing
Cryolipolysis or fat freezing uses very low temperatures to freeze the fat. The fat cells break down when subjected to such extreme low temperature and they are cleared by the lymphatic system.
The area to be subjected to cryolipolysis is measured out and the application is applied which sucks the fat into the transducer and the freezing starts. The procedure can take between 40 mins to one hour per application during which time the area mostly just feels numb. After this the area is massaged either manually or with Z wave that further increases the breakdown of the fat cells.
Over a period of time about 8 weeks to 12 weeks the effects of the treatment can be seen as reduction in inches or girth.
Pros: Its non surgical, there is no anesthesia involved, it’s a lunch time procedure taking only upto 1 hr per area and patient is able to return to work immediately afterwards. There is no downtime.
Cons: You may need between 1-3 sessions to remove a significant amount of fat through this route.
Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers have hyaluronic acid in them which when injected absorb water and fill up the space in the tissues. These are great to fill in volume and collagen loss which happens with aging on the face but can also be used in the hands, neck and décolletage. Anywhere where there are folds, sagging or volume loss, dermal fillers do the job .
The procedures involves injection of the material in the skin by an expert.
Pros: The treatment takes only 15 mins to 30 mins and has minimal side effects such as bruising and swelling. They are quite safe when injected by an expert and the effect is immediate lasting upto 1-1.5 yrs .
Cons: The results are temporary and touch ups need to be done. Results are physician expertise dependant
Facial/pico lasers
Pico and Q switched lasers offer many solutions for correcting tone and texture of the skin. The lasers treat pigmentation, freckles, spots, melasma, vascular lesions, birth moles, tattoos and many more. They are also used for carbon peeling where a carbon solution is applied that the laser then blasts away which helps in reducing pores and revealing a brightened complexion. They are also frequently used in photofacials for rejuvenation, glow and skin brightening.
Pros: quick effective solution for removing stubborn pigmentation. No downtime when compared to peels as skin does not peel
Cons: dark skinned people can be quite sensitive hence need to be prepped to avoid rebound pigmentation. Skin will be more sensitive to sunlight
Chemical peels
Peels are solutions which are applied to the skin that cause exfoliation and peeling. The intention is to peel away the outer most layers of the skin where the pigment has accumulated more. The results of peels are more even and toned skin with lesser pigmentation, spots and brightened skin.
Pros: affordable option for those looking for simple solutions to brighten skin and remove tan
Cons: there maybe a downtime of a few days whilst the skin peels . skin will be sensitive to sunlight after a peel
Botox facials
Micro doses of botox can be delivered to the skin in different ways. This causes open pores to reduce and gives the skin a sheen and glow. In such micro doses and given superficially botox only relaxes the superficial fibres of muscles causing the dilated pores to relax and be tighter and the skin overlying appears smoother.
It can be given in the form of multiple tiny pricks or with a stamp.
Pros: The result will never look frozen or overdone, great for first timers and people who are apprehensive of receiving standard botox doses
Cons: Results are temporary and will fade away in a few weeks.
Any new treatment that you are aware of ? would love to incorporate that as well
Skin boosters: These are meso fillers given in the form of micro injections that help to hydrate skin and give radiance. The fillers contain Hyaluronic acid molecule which binds to water and thus plumps and hydrates skin. These fillers are much thinner than the traditional fillers used to lift skin and plump.
Pros: helps to reduce fine lines and improves texture and crepiness of skin
Cons: bruising and tiny lumps are common after injection which can last for 3-4 days
