Holi Skin Care
The colours, the chemicals in the colours and the sun combined can play havoc on the skin and hair so follow these steps to care for your skin whilst also enjoying the festive mood
- Coat your hairs with a gentle light oil like almond oil so that the colours do not penetrate the shaft of the hairs.
- For the face, use moisturirising lotion and protect with sunscreen with spf >30
- Use a good moisturizing lotion or cream all over the body. Rub a generous amount into the drier areas like elbows, knees where dry skin can accumulate more colour. This forms a protective barrier on the skin to prevent the penetration of colours
- Protect lips and nails also by coating with Vaseline or a good lip balm for lips and a nourishing cuticle oil or sweet almond oil for the nails.
Aftercare:
- Cleanse gently using circular upward massaging strokes. You may use an oil based cleanser to get rid of the colours.
- Moisturise skin and use sunscreen
- Wash hair , deep condition and use minimal heat styling.
- You can make your own deep conditioning hair mask by mixing ripe avocado 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp honey. Apply to the hair and let it sit for 40 mins . you may use a shower cap for better penetration of the mask. It is then rinsed off well with shampoo and conditioned again
- Try and avoid styling your hair with blow dryers and straightening irons for the day.
- Use a generous amount of moisturizing lotion on the body too after shower
- Hydrate cuticles again and lips with a lip balm
