Monsoon Skin Care
Why is a customised skincare regime for the monsoon important?
Every skin is differenet and its important to identify if you have oily acne prone skin or combination skin or dry skin. Customized skin care routine becomes very important during monsoon because the humidity in the air favours bacterial growth and those prone to oily skin and comedones will see more breakouts from the heat and humidity. Even those with dry skin using heavier creams may want to use lighter lotions and creams.
What are some mistakes that we make with skincare during the rains?
The most common mistake is people use the same skin care they use in other seasons. Higher humidity in monsoons causes the skin to break out more oftenwe don’t think too much about getting drenched in the rains but it can create havoc on our skin and hair.
Not using sunscreen because you think the clouds can protect you form the sun rays.
Not exfoliating in monsoon will do no favours for your skin.
Wearing closed, water drenched shoes favours bacterial and fungal infections.
Not drinking enough water and hydrating yourselves in monsoons.
Could you give us some tips about how to keep skin looking fresh during the monsoons?
Exfoliate with a gentle exfoliator twice a week to keep your skin looking its best.
Use lighter moisturizing lotions and gel based serums in monsoons. Thicker creams can clog pores and the humidity in monsons favours bacterial growth and breakouts may be a common problem.
If you do get drenched in rain, do wash away the rain water from your skin and hair to protect yourself from the harmful pollutants and chemicals in the environment.
Dry your skin thoroughly since moisture favours fungal infections.
Wear sandals and open toe shows during monsoons as humidity and sweat can cause fungal infections with closed shoes.
Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or more even during monsoons to protect your self from sun’s harmful rays. Use a water proof sunscreen.
