Treatment by your hairstylist and dermatologist are extremely different. The former might treat your hair as a canvas to be customized, and the latter might want to get rid of it all. This can make it difficult for someone who has both a skin condition and an interest in their hair because they need a professional who can do both treatments effectively.

Hairstylists can not work on acne or recommend treatments because they are not Doctors!

Hairstylists also provide different treatments for hair such as coloring, cutting, and shampooing.

"A dermatologist typically does not offer many of these treatments, but they are able to diagnose and prescribe a treatment for skin conditions such as acne." Your Dermatologist is a Doctor for your skin, scalp, hair, etc.

While your hairstylist will cut your hair according to the style you want, a dermatologist will examine your scalp to see if there are any signs of early stage skin cancer, and suggest treatments for your health.

Hairstylists are not Doctors. Always consult your Dermatologist for any treatment.
